Sasha Pirogova originally trained in physics, having graduated from the Department of Physics of Moscow State University in 2010, but started her development in contemporary dance and from there moved into contemporary visual art. She completed her education at the Rodchenko Moscow School of Photography and Multimedia in 2014.
She holds the Innovation Prize in the "New generation" category (2014) and the Kandinsky prize as "Young artist. Project of the year" (2017). In 2016 she won a grant of the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art for emerging artists. Sasha’s recent exhibitions include Balagan!!! (part of the NORDWIND Festival) in Berlin (MOMENTUM, 2015), Cabaret Kultura in London (Whitechapel Gallery, 2016) and Future Generation Art Prize in Venice (Palazzo Contarini Polignac, 2017).
Her works are in collection of various museums such as Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp (M HKA) and Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, Helsinki.
In 2017 she presented Russia at the 57th Venice Biennale.
