Creating Dance in Nature

This Workshop is about the art of performing and creating dance in nature, moving in and with nature bare of any romanticism. Dancing in Nature sounds enticing, romantic, elating and esoteric. But there is an art behind "simply moving outdoors" and that is to connect authentically with the elements, to face the roughness and wildness in the environment and to prepare physically for the particular challenges of each terrain.

In this workshop we will dance on different terrains such as sand, gras, sloping hills, muddy dirt and rough stone. We will find qualities on how to move in and around water and practice different forms of articulation in the body and with sound in the respective environment. We will go on a search for movement material fitting, juxtaposing and composing with the natural state around and thus develop a relationship to the specific area.

IMPORTANT: Meeting point on the first workshop day is the stop before the last stop of the bus line 48a "Otto-Wagner-Spital, Psychiatrisches Zentrum" at 10:00 (almost) in any weather! Sabine will send you an email before the Workshop.
