Only a few weeks before the festival starts, ImPulsTanz is heading west towards St. Pölten! With the spectacular piece En avant, marche! and a festive frame programme ImPulsTanz and Festspielhaus St. Pölten start a three years lasting cooperation.
Following their first collaboration on the much-praised theatre production Gardenia in 2010, the Belgian director Alain Platel, theatre maker Frank Van Laecke and composer Steven Prengels have reunited once again to investigate rural music making in En avant, marche!. The scene is a marching band. This unconventional project will be realised by a Lower Austrian marching band, seven additional musicians and four performers. So: “Forward, march!” – and what better accompaniment could there be than trumpets, horns, trombones and tubas playing freshly arranged works by Strauss, Verdi, other classical composers and from the local marching repertoire.
