Serapions Ensemble (AT )
“Amazement is the first step towards insight”, according to Erwin Piplits. The latest work of his Serapions Ensemble puts this maxim into effect by means of poetic images and fantastic atmospheres. The amazement becomes palpable in the ambience, through the dancers, the texts by authors from Goethe to Khlebnikov, the music by composers from Shostakovich to Satie, and the overwhelming curtain by Max Kaufmann. Anagó is a Serapion fable with hints at the ensemble’s beginnings in the 1970s. And it is a parable of human endeavour, failure and discovery – in commemoration of Ulrike Kaufmann, co-founder of the Serapions Ensemble.
