Perspective & Representation / Painting & Politics in Western and Islamic Societies
with Jeffrey Ruda (Prof. of Art History at the University of California, Davis), Olga Hazan (Associate Prof. of Art History at the University of Quebec), Siham Bouhlal (Dr. of Medieval History/University Paris Sorbonne) and Superamas
The talk show will be recorded for the upcoming performance "THEATRE".
Perspective cannot be separated from the image, according to Superamas. This was the case even in the 15th century, when perspective painting served to make an impression. Not only in an aesthetic but also in a political sense. Today’s world of images works along the same lines: a certain “realism” serves as an effective means to gain or maintain power. The French-Belgian-Austrian collective Superamas put this topic in a nutshell with “Perspective and Representation – Paintings and Politics in Western and Islamic Societies”. And it won’t be a dull affair to watch, since the performance will be a talk show of the special kind with special guests, and it will later be used in Superamas’ next production, “Theatre”.
