As of Wednesday 8 May, tickets for the performances at Burgtheater and Volkstheater will be available. They include big names such as William Kentridge, Dada Masilo, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Wim Vandekeybus and Jérôme Bel, as well as Alexander Vantournhout, who wowed the ImPulsTanz audience for the first time in 2023, and the Korea National Contemporary Dance Company with a choreography by Kim Sungyong, which will be performing in Vienna for the first time.
Up to and including 15 May, there is an early bird discount of 10 % on up to two tickets per production!
Tickets for all other productions will be available from 12 June.

French choreographer Maud Le Pladec can be seen for the first time at ImPulsTanz with her piece Silent Legacy, in which 11-year-old Adeline Kerry Cruz and her mentor Jr Maddripp, who also teaches a workshop this year, take Krump to the stage. With Make Banana Cry, Andrew Tay and Stephen Thompson playfully and critically reckon with the Western concept of ‘being Asian’. And Lucy Guerin is a guest with a double feature of Split and How To Be Us.

All 254 workshops and research projects taking place in the light-flooded studios of Vienna’s Arsenal again in 2024 are now online and bookable. 157 national and international teaching artists invite you to try out Contemporary, Ballet, Improvisation, Jazz, Composition, Modern and much more. Newcomers include Ariel Douglas, Sonja Pregrad, Jr Maddripp, nora chipaumire and Marie Kaae. But what would the festival be without its long-time companions, such as Terence Lewis, Alleyne Dance, Salim Gauwloos, Libby Farr, Peeps, Risa Steinberg, Joe Alegado, Nina Kripas and Christopher Matthews?

All workshops and research projects can be booked now and until 31 May you pay 20 euros less for the first course booked with the early bird bonus. And then it’s off to the dance floor with Sofie Douda, Cumbia, Merengue and Raggaeton, to the catwalk with Krõõt Juurak and Vera Rosner, to the Cypher with Markus Eggensperger and in front of the camera with Jermaine Browne.

We again invite young choreographers living and working in Austria to apply for a TURBO Research Residencies within the framework of ImPulsTanz. The aim is to support young local dance and performance creators and strengthen the Austrian scene. There are two spots available this year. Application deadline: 5 May 2024
The Open Call invites artists, activists, and academics to apply to participate in the residencies You Will Move Into My Depths hosted by Áron Birtalan, Three of Cups hosted by Stéphanie Janaina or ONISM (online) hosted by Nea Landin. The week-long residencies take place after the ImPulsTanz Symposium LACE #2: Mediating Touch from 29 July to 2 August and deal with topics such as hospitality, languages of intimacy and ecstasy, inhabiting discomfort through the prism of pleasure and much more.
Since 2017, the Public Moves series as part of the ImPulsTanz – Vienna International Dance Festival has been organising inclusive free dance classes in public spaces every summer. The support of the Licht in Dunkel innovation fund not only enables us to continue breaking down barriers in these dance classes, but also to bring the format to Klagenfurt, Linz and Salzburg for the first time in 2024.
The Salavisa European Dance Award (SEDA) will be presented in Lisbon on 27 November 2024. The prize, endowed with 150,000 euro, is named after the renowned Portuguese dancer, teacher and former artistic director of Ballet Gulbenkian, Jorge Salavisa. Five finalists have now been selected from a longlist of 21 candidates put forward by the partner institutions, including ImPulsTanz.
