Vienna, Austria, last week: if thou werest there, thou werest maybe among the 50, who indulged into them Croatian electro punkettes. Equally there: ROBÖXOTICA (www.monochrom.at/roboexotica), the world's first and inevitably leading Festival for Cocktail Robotics, paying tribute to the increasing occurrence of radical hedonism in man-machine communication and the symposium "Beautiful failure". (How Viennese is that. Wet-eyed we remember Fritz Ostermayer's compilation of funeral marches (ww.trikont.de) under the same topic).
Remember we NOT! Finally, also the Here & Now is groovy:
+ David Zambrano, designated danceWEB Coach 2005, has invited his favourite dancers to teach - their crunchy (and affordable) workshops Amsterdam can be found on www.impulstanz.com/english/eventdatabase/index.html
+ young & established choreographers as well as multi media artists will unite at the Monaco Dance Forum in ... right, Monaco. And www.impulstanz.com/deutsch/news/index.html
+ and for the particularily up-to-dates: "176x144" - a performance for 3G mobile phones, initiated by Zeroballet. More in said Event Database on ImPulsTanz.com.
Norodom Sihamoni (www.norodomsihanouk.info/royal_family/shmne.htm).
Charles Askegard (www.nycballet.com/about/bio_askegard.html).
Rings no bell not? Ballet dancers, them. The former, however, equally King of Cambodia, the latter husband of Candace "Sex And The City" Bushnell. Finally also them years of anorexia do pay off.
But anyway we dance contemporary and thus live happy modest type. Or as choreographer & dancer Jonathan Burrows puts it in an interview on www.londondance.com: "I do this thing here and now and open to the audience, but I don’t shove it in your face and I don’t presume my dreams are richer than yours." That's my man.
Younger, equally reflected choreographers are wanted for and by the EU funded initiative "terrains fertiles". ArCub (Romania), XKIZIT (France) and im_flieger (Austria) are searching for (and funding!) interdisciplinary, multicultural projects in various/alternative spaces. Application forms and more on www.terrainsfertiles.org/tf_01.php?lglD=1
Well, fruitful advent then, altogether!
P.S.: One last novemberish hint: www.darwinawards.com - there they honor those "who improve our gene pool... by removing themselves from it". And don't fail to remark that "Of necessity, this honor is (generally) bestowed posthumously". How considerate.
P.P.S.: ImPulsTanz, instead, has considered 2005 as a possible reality also of its own future. Thus, at least some first dates on www.impulstanz.com/english/impulstanz05/index.html
