more than naked
In this workshop we will engage in nudity, being naked and becoming naked on stage. Nudity not as provocation but as a necessity for the physical research. What kind of movement material is possible with the naked body, compared to the dressed body? Which kind of intensity and fragility does a naked body generate? Which kind of presentation, exposition, exhibition and images are produced?
We will work with the mass of the body, with flesh and body fat, as well as with the skin and the bone structure. The flesh will be moved in different ways, we will drop it and let it fly, the bone structure will implode and explode and skin surfaces get transposed. It is a search for dance originating from the material "body". We "re-stage" the naked body without losing the concreteness of nudity. Throughout this week we will ask the question, what it means in today’s world, in 2012, to move the naked body.
"Nudity often is a tool for my artistic work. I will work very physically with the participants, very devoted and precisely. I will introduce my approaches, such as seeing skin as another layer underneath the clothes, or my occupation with the baroque era and its urge for opulence and poses as impulses for movement material, or nudity as political catalyst for changes in society."
