With its versatile roster, ImPulsTanz workshops is the biggest workshop festival in Europe. More than 150 internationally renowned teachers and choreographers are heading more than 220 workshops open to beginners, intermediate and professional dancers. Both the diversity of the programme (from Contemporary to Butoh, from Yoga to Dance for People with and without Disabilities) as well as the strongly encouraged exchange between teachers and students, performers and audience, amateurs and professionals mark Vienna as THE summerly dance summit.

Joe Alegado (Corpus Christi), Boyzie Cekwana (Durban), Zvi Gotheiner (New York), Marcia Haydée (Stuttgart), Jennifer Lacey (Paris), Louise Lecavalier (Montréal), Dominique Mercy (Wuppertal), Elsa Wolliaston (Paris) among many others have already been contributing to the professional and open atmosphere at ImPulsTanz workshops.

Within the Workshops & Research Programme ImPulsTanz often puts the spotlight on a specific topic:
In 2016, the ImPulsTanz – Vienna International Dance Festival extended the dialogue between visual arts and contemporary dance and launched visual arts x dance – A workshop series programmed by Tino Sehgal . Louise Höjer . Rio Rutzinger. Spanning over the entire festival period (14 July – 14 August 2016), each an artist from the field of visual arts and contemporary dance lined up together – visual artist encounters dance artist, among others Klaus Biesenbach, Koo Jeong, Xavier Le Roy, Wolfgang Gantner/Gelitin, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Maria Hassabi, Anne Juren and many more.

In 2017 ImPulsTanz launched URBANATIVE for the first time. This festival of urban art forms, shaped in collaboration with Storm and Markus Eggensperger feat. Archie Burnett, Daybee Dorzile, Nina Kripas, Brahms LaFortune, Bruce Ykanji and many more, took place from 05–12 August 2017. Due to its success a further edition was realized in 2018.

Also for the second time free classes took place in public space this summer. What has started as ImPulsTanz X Summer of Movement in cooperation with and at MuseumsQuartier Wien in the heart of Vienna in 2017, turned into Public Movement and moved to the 4th district's lovely Anton-Benya-Park in 2018. With the kind support of AK Wien and AK Young, again daily workshops by the renowned ImPulsTanz teachers gave each another taste of dance and movement, with free admission for every level and age.
And by the way free of charge: thanks to the kind donations of our public for LASS SPRINGEN! we once again could invite a group of children and teenagers of the SOS Childrens' Village as well as the NGO Flucht nach Vorn (working with refugee kids) to go with the flow of our workshop razzle dazzle and regain some energy at our cafeterias. With the support of Casinos Austria also adults, who couldn't afford otherwise, have been invited to enjoy our workshop programme, through the collaboration with Verein Ute Bock.

A list of the teachers of 2019 will be published at the end of March. The complete workshop programme for 2019 will be available online by 10th of April 2019, which is also the start of the online booking.
