Public Moves dance classes are held outdoors, free of charge and for everyone. No previous experience is necessary, all ages and levels are welcome. After the great success of this year's ImPulsTanz edition, a Public Moves Special Edition will take place for the first time in Wien Favoriten from 20–22 September. The crisp yellow dance floor will be rolled out at Columbusplatz to let the summer come to an end by dancing together once again. From Afro-fusion to HipHop, from Bollywood to Tai Chi and from Disco to House – there’s something for everyone.
Public Moves Favoriten is made possible by the support of Stadt Wien Kultur.
Registration is possible one day before the start of the course from 11:00 in the morning via the calendar or by telephone on +43.1.523 55 58-19. If a class is marked as ‘fully booked’, it is still possible to get a remaining place on site. It’s worth stopping by!
Public Moves 2024 had even more dance classes at even more locations! More than 170 international and local instructors imparted their knowledge in over 350 free outdoor classes at a total of ten locations, from Yoga to Bollywood dance to HipHop – and for the first time outside of Vienna!
The first stop this year was from 30 May – 9 June in Klagenfurt, more precisely in the Landhaushof. African Dance, Tap Dance, Yoga, Contemporary Dance and much more was performed there. This was followed by a stop at the Lentos Art Museum in Linz from 13–23 June with Improvisation, Tai Chi, HipHop and Breaking. And from 27 June – 7 July, Public Moves in Salzburg not only promised House, Freestyle and Contemporary Dance, but also a wonderful view over the city from the sculpture terrace of the Museum der Moderne Salzburg on the Mönchsberg.
At the same time, the first of a total of seven Viennese locations started in Seestadt on 8 June with Yoga, House, Improvisation and much more. From 12 July – 9 August, people were able to dance again in front of the MuseumsQuartier, on the Papstwiese, at Kaiserwasser and at Badeteich Hirschstetten, as well as at two new locations – Schwarzenbergplatz and Richard-Wagner-Platz.
There was also an even greater focus on accessibility, for example, one class in each city is translated into Austrian Sign Language (ÖGS), almost all locations are accessible without barriers and the ImPulsTanz team is available in advance and on site to assist with any special needs and is happy to support all participants in the classes. At the Public Moves Special in Favoriten, Ákos Hargitay’s Unleashing the Beast – Hybrid Movements class will be translated into ÖGS on 21 September at 14:00.
