As a movement artisan you have a deep passion for the crafting and researching of movement. A longing for perceiving more details and the ability to slice a moment to more and more increments while moving. Movement is Transition. What lies beyond the shapes is essentially the movement. So the research goes towards what is dynamic, impossible to grasp only possible to experience and perceive as we move. This week we will build layers of inquiry that compose towards a simultaneous but differentiated awareness of what is a movement and what is happening in a movement.
The Axis Syllabus offers tools for recognising and fine-tuning these different aspects of movement such as a healthy bio-mechanic spectrum of individual joints, myofascial relationships, the landing and launching body map, resilient and supportive architecture, integrating inertial laws, force conversion and recycling, consideration of the nervous system among others.
In my classes I intend to create a collaborative learning environment where one has the time to go deeply into experiencing and researching as well as taking the pleasure in the ritual of collective learning, sharing of space and dancing together.Kira Kirsch
