HIGHLIGHTS

New: Karaoke, Drag and Krump

This year you can look forward to 36 new names and people bringing a breath of fresh air to the Arsenal. Ariel Douglas introduces the cultural phenomenon of Limbo. Sonja Pregrad entices with karaoke and drag. Jr Maddripp introduces Krump dance style and Marie Kaae grooves to house dance. But what would the festival be without its longstanding companions, such as Terence Lewis, Alleyne Dance, Salim Gauwloos, Libby Farr, Peeps, Risa Steinberg, Joe Alegado, Nina Kripas and Christopher Matthews?

Shake the Break for kids and teens

Together with Dschungel Wien, ImPulsTanz is once again inviting children and teenagers aged between 3.5 and 18 to 13 Shake the Break workshops. While Cecilia Kukua offers an animal-themed treat, Suni Löschner talks about dolphins and bubbles. Sarah Gaderer makes you as strong as a snail and Johanna Figl and Martina Rösler transform you into a Power Animal. And for all HipHop fans, Markus Eggensperger, Ákos Hargitay and Attila Zanin have the coolest moves.

Research for pros

Professional dancers and choreographers have the opportunity to apply to take part in process-oriented research projects – a total of 13 are available this year. Sophia Rodríguez deconstructs the falsity and truthfulness of self-relationships, while Raja Feather Kelly releases repressed fears. Matteo Marziano Graziano, Laurent Pellissier and Daniela Zorrozua Cantillo are all about drama, opera and opulence. Be Heintzman Hope awakens the stripper Gollum in us and with Alex Franz Zehetbauer and Jen Rosenblit it’s off to the bathhouse.

More than 130 internationally renowned teachers and choreographers share their knowledge in over 210 workshops and research projects in the spacious studios at Schmelz. Courses ranging from Afro-Fusion and Butoh to HipHop and club styles to repertory and contemporary dance are open to beginners, advanced dancers and professionals.

All workshops and research projects are now online and open for booking.

PROGRAMME SEGMENTS

Workshops

The more than 200 workshops are aimed at beginners and professionals alike, comprising either one training unit daily from Monday to Friday or two on Saturdays and Sundays.

Shake the Break

The workshops at Dschungel Wien invite children and teenagers from 3.5 to 18 years to dance and act.

Research Projects

The research and process-oriented projects are aimed specifically at professional dancers and artists. A maximum of 20 participants will be selected by the project management.

Open Doors

Most of the workshops are open for visitors to watch. Events, showings and jams can also be attended free of charge.

Public Moves

The dance classes are held daily, outdoors and free of charge. All levels and ages welcome!

Country Retreats

Time to dance and live together: Between August and October, ImPulsTanz invites you, together with Artis Umbria, to unique workshops in Italy. 

Pro Scene

ImPulsTanz offers special education and training programmes to both professionals and beginners, as well as auditions. Symposia and residencies provide additional opportunities to exchange ideas.
