Dance in Paradise and in Hell. Two new pieces by renowned Austrian choreographer Georg Blaschke deal with the famous “Last Judgement” triptych (1485-1505) by Hieronymus Bosch. The way three women move and sing in “Prélude Paradise” makes you think both of a lament and a punk song, as they examine the original meaning of the term choreography as a “graphic representation of the chorus’ dance”. And in “Bosch frontal” four dancers delve into the Renaissance painter’s Inferno. They experiment on Bosch’s compositions of bodies, thereby opening up completely new interpretations of the Dutch masterpiece. Once again, Blaschke’s explorations take place at the boundaries of installation, contemporary dance and a somatic approach to phenomenological concepts of perception and representation. Five years ago, the choreographer presented a reconstruction of the solo “Jetzt bist Du dran” (1929) by Austrian expressionist Andrei Jerschik at ImPulsTanz. And with Liz King he created her moving solo piece “Your Dancer”, which was also shown at the CPA*12 in the scope of ImPulsTanz 2012.
