"We Are All Marlene Dietrich FOR" In the wild dance satire “We are all Marlene Dietrich FOR” the Iceland Dance Company cuts to the chase. Shooting star choreographer Erna Ómarsdóttir from Iceland, also well-known for her performance work with Jan Fabre, has joined Slovenian theater-maker Emil Hrvatin, who is also editor of the renowned performance magazine “Maska,”and taken on the topic of war and entertainment. They show us: where there are soldiers there is abuse of power. This also rings true for soldiers of the United Nations. In this piece, ten young dancers, actors and musicians armed with wicked irony bombard any traces of blissfulness that could lull the troops into feeling comfortable in their position or ideas of kitschy camaraderie. Alix Eynaudi, one of the finest dancers of Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s company Rosas, is a guest dancer in this piece. The sounds ranging from delicate to brutal are provided by Poni, a punk band from Brussels.
