Is this creature an experiment, maybe even a genetic recreation like Ripley in part 4 (Resurrection) of the Alien film series? Perhaps. In any case, what happens in this piece by the renowned Viennese choreographer Doris Uhlich with the body of the human being Doris Uhlich is as well somewhat uncanny. Centre stage at Odeon theatre stands a large glass tube, an undefinable, misty substance wavering inside. There! A hand, an outline, a leg, a naked body that vibrates in the high-energy tension of the music by Boris Kopeinig. In this solo piece, Doris Uhlich tackles the delicate subject of body modifications, including all that comes with it – from promises of happiness to dystopian prospects.
