BIOGRAPHY

In 2001, Peter Jasko graduated from the J. L. Bella Conservatory of Dance in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia. He continued his higher education at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Bratislava for a year before entering the international dance school P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels (2002), under the artistic direction of Anna Teresa de Keersmaeker. He has been involved in the dance community worldwide as a performer, choreographer, and teacher for over 20 years. His professional experience includes dancing, collaborating, and choreographing with international artists and companies such as Company Roberto Olivan from Spain, the Belgian Eastman Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Circus Eloize, Bill Coleman, Petr Forman, Roberto Magro, Peter James, EDCM, Concordia University, and many more.

Since 2001, he has also collaborated with David Zambrano, both as a performer and as an assistant in his classes and workshops. In 2006, Peter co-founded Les Slovaks Dance Collective and launched their first creation: Opening Night. This experience (a creative process lasting one year) laid the foundation for a collective way of working and democratic decision-making. Les Slovaks began to develop shared skills: composing while performing, finding a gestural language, establishing rules for relating to one another and the audience while performing, and incorporating dance, music, and singing. Extensive touring followed. In 2009, Peter Jasko created and performed Solo 2009.

In 2014, he began collaborating and performing with Montreal dancer Clara Furey. His most recent collaborations are with names such as Peter James, Luka and Atom Jasko (his children), along with some solo works. Over the past 20 years, he has taught in approximately 46 countries worldwide. In 2023, Peter Jasko became a TransFormation Programming Associate for the Workshop Dance Festival in Montreal, QC, Canada. Since 2024, he has been a certified massage therapist, focusing on therapeutic massage techniques such as SMFT™ – Structural Myofascial Therapy, Deep Tissue, and Swedish techniques at Parc Santé Multiclinique in Montreal. He continues to teach at various schools and studios in and around Québec.
