Sabine Parzer, B.A., MSME, is a dancer, choreographer, dance educator, body therapist, organiser, and author. She is the director and founder of the Holistic Dance Institute, which she established in 2010. Recognised as a Master Somatic Movement Educator by ISMETA, her institute is accredited accordingly and offers professional Teacher Trainings and Advanced Teacher Trainings. In 2012, she also founded the Contact Festival Austria, which she directed as artistic leader until 2017. She has been active internationally for over 35 years, particularly in the U.S.A., Canada, Europe, Russia, Israel, and Brazil.
Sabine Parzer completed her training in Modern Dance with a Bachelor of Arts at Columbia College Chicago. Additionally, she studied Systemic and Integrative Movement Therapy®, an expanded Feldenkrais-based method incorporating systemic approaches. Her intensive practice in Authentic Movement and Contact Improvisation began in 1997. Since 1995, she has deepened her expertise through numerous advanced trainings, including Klein Technique, ZenBodytherapy®, Yoga, White Crane Silat, Rosen Method®, Shiatsu, Kashmiri Massage, Psychotherapy, Family Constellations, and Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy. She is currently studying Visionary Craniosacral Work with Hugh Milne.
At the Holistic Dance Institute, she works with dancers, artists, body therapists, social educators, and psychotherapists through Teacher Trainings, Advanced Teacher Trainings, year-long programmes, retreats, open workshops, and one-to-one sessions. In addition, she regularly teaches both at international dance festivals such as ImPulsTanz Vienna, and Potsdamer Tanztage as well as at Tanzquartier Wien and Tanzfabrik Berlin. She has also taught intensives and workshops at festivals including the Israeli Contact Festival, Moscow Contact Festival, Kontakt Budapest, Contact in Rio de Janeiro, Osterimprofestival Göttingen, and the Ibiza Contact Festival.
Since 1990, her choreographies and improvisational works have been performed worldwide, including in New York City, San Francisco, Chicago, Berlin, Moscow, and Vienna. For over 14 years, she worked as a holistic dance educator at the Weißer Hof Rehabilitation Centre (AUVA), supporting people recovering from severe work-related and traffic accidents.
Sabine Parzer is regarded as a pioneer of somatic and holistic dance. Her humorous and grounded approach to teaching is highly valued by her students and colleagues alike.
