BIOGRAPHY

After following an education at the Rotterdamse Dansacademie, Samantha van Wissen joined Rosas/Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker in 1991. Until 1997, she participated in numerous creations and performances, including Ertz, Mozart Concert Arias, and Woud, and also toured with repertory pieces such as Rosas Danst Rosas, Achterland, and Mikrokosmos. Samantha continued working with Rosas on repertory pieces including Rosas Danst Rosas, Achterland, Mozart Concert Arias, Drumming, and Elena’s Aria.

Since 1997, she has collaborated with Cie. ZOO/Thomas Hauert, participating in most of the company’s creations and touring productions, including Cows In Space, Pop-up Songbook, Verosimile, Jetzt, <5>, More or Less Said Songs, Puzzled, Walking Oscar, You’ve Changed, Accords, How to Proceed, Mono, If Only, and Efeu. She has taught workshops at P.A.R.T.S., the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp, and has been at ImPulsTanz Vienna since 2008.

She collaborated with François Gremaud on the solo piece Giselle, for which she won the “Prix de la Meilleure Interprète” at the 2022–2023 Prix de la Critique. Samantha has also worked with Belgian choreographer Marc Vanrunxt on the piece Freie Form. Together with her ZOO colleague Sara Ludi, she teaches dance classes for elderly people in Brussels.
