Ibou Ba was born in Dakar, Senegal, into a family of musicians. He grew up with traditional Senegalese music and learned to drum (djembe, sabar) at the age of 10, perfecting it over the years in Daradji Percussion, the classical school of drumming. At the age of 15, he was accepted into the Ensemble Ambassadeur de la Culture au Sénégal. This engagement sealed his artistic career as a percussionist. He subsequently performed with the Ballet Afrique Noir, the Ballet Daradji Dakar and Ouza Diallo, among others, as well as with other musicians and ensembles.
Ibou Ba now lives and works in Austria and Senegal. In Austria, he participated in the workshops of Ismael Ivo and Germaine Acogny as part of ImPulsTanz and contributed to the dance courses with Ballet Tilibo. He has been engaged by important musicians for their concerts in Austria, such as Baba Maal, Prince Zeka, Mamadou Diabate, Daradji Family. Ibou Ba Daradji Percussion performs with Harald Huber and Max Doblhoff, among others. In 2022 Ibou Ba released his CD Mama Africa.
