Aimilios Arapoglou, a Greek dancer and dance maker, embarked on his professional journey in 2012, performing and creating both in Greece and internationally. A graduate of the University of Piraeus in political sciences and the Greek National State School of Dance, he is currently based in Brussels. Aimilios collaborated with distinguished companies and artists such as Marina Abramovic, Damien Jalet , JR, John Parish, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Göteborg Dance Company, NDT1, Paris opera Garnier, David Zambrano, Rootlessroot, Mor Shani, Jukstapoz.co and renowned fashion designers like Hussein Chalayan, Riccardo Tisci, and Iris van Herpen.
His notable performances include Shell Shock at La Monnaie (Brussels) with singer Nick Cave in October 2014, Babel 7.16 with Eastman at Festival d’Avignon at the Palais des Papes in July 2016, and involvement in projects like Boléro at the Paris Opera Garnier, Pelléas et Mélisande and Vessel. Aimilios has contributed to films such as The Ferryman and Suspiria with Damien Jalet, as well as Anima by Paul Thomas Anderson and Thom Yorke, featuring choreography by Damien Jalet. Anima received the UKMVA award for the best choreography.
In 2018, he collaborated with the national company of Mexico co-creating Omphalos, and later joined Madonna’s theatrical tour, Madame X, as a choreographic assistant. He continued his journey with projects like Train-Train and brise-lames, a collaboration with visual artist JR and pianist Koki Nakano at the Paris Opera Garnier.
Aimilios worked with Damien Jalet on Mist for Netherlands Dance Theater and Planet (Wanderer), which premiered at Theatre de Chaillot Paris and is currently touring worldwide. Both projects highlight his continuous collaboration with Kohei Nawa. Currently, he is engaged in dance and site-specific projects throughout Japan and France, with premieres on the horizon.
