Angélique Willkie is a performing artist, dramaturg, and pedagogue. Over a span of more than 20 years in Europe, she took part in dance projects with, among others, Alain Platel and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui of les ballets C de la B, as well as with Needcompany. As a singer, she performed with Zap Mama, dEUS, DAAU, and Zita Swoon Group.
In 2022, she was awarded the Prix de la danse de Montréal in the Performer category for the solo Confession Publique.
Continuing her work as a dramaturg, she is currently an Associate Professor in the Contemporary Dance Department at Concordia University. As an artist-researcher, her work centres on decolonial dramaturgies and the dramaturgy of the body in performance. She holds a research chair at Concordia University in Ecologies of Black Performance.
