In 1961 Claes Oldenburg published the short text “I am for an Art”. A series of I am for this and that and then art, a few years later Goshka Macuga and Marten Spangberg comes together in a two days intensive workshop that doesn’t start with or end with Oldenburg but with two repeated statements, destruction as followed by so many things and then the second, care as supported by equally many who know what. Somewhere Oldenburg proposal changed to being against and not for and art. And care implies to explore notions of for and against, or simply for who if at all.
The group will embark on an in situ yet non-directional journey between information, nonplussedness, animals (runaway pets and others), blisters, indifference, something really loud and dancing. Perhaps it is the workshop itself that embodies these statements but if it is we will probably not notice until too late which is a good thing.
There will also be a long introduction which will open to the practices of Macuga and Spångberg.
This is a workshop we can really recommend, like in a Marxist kind of way.
