One Minute Story by danceWEBber Laura Tinard about the end in Dana Michel’s show Cutlass Spring, 11.08.2019.
Most of the time it is hard to end a performance. It happens that an artist asks a friend, a technician to applaud. An alternate solution is to opt for a black out. This is what Dana did. A black out after having pulled the last string of her show. This moment was reaching a certain climax.
During the performance, I am predicting what would come up from this rope sneakily set up in the middle of the audience. I know that this rope will constitute the final! I am imagining the dangers it will bring! But Dana succeeds in bringing my attention somewhere else. Under my shoe an icecube is crackling. Suddenly, the end is coming! Dana draws from herself the hero’s failure accompanied by a music that can not sustain its promise and grandiosity! At this moment, I am blown away and extremely focused on what’s going on on stage... I won't spoil it! Indeed, I am not ready for the end! This moment is full of tension and thus probably the best moment to say goodbye!
