PROGRAMME
In this workshop, we will immerse ourselves with Farah in the movement language of House Dance – a dance style that emerged in the late 1970s and early 1980s in the underground clubs of New York City.
We dive into the history and basics of the style, learn important basics and develop our own style through creative freestyle exercises. We move both in the group and in the so-called cypher – an open circle in which dancers inspire each other – a place of exchange and mutual empowerment.
At the end, DJ Sora plays live music and the room is “transformed” into a club. In this one-hour clubbing session, participants can try out what they have learnt in a realistic party atmosphere and experience what House Dance can feel like in a club context.
With or without previous experience, this workshop invites participants to move freely to the music and connect with others through dance.
