Dancing Material / Material Dance

Cornelia and Katharina explore the dynamic relationship between movement and materials. Their work, characterised by an intense examination of textiles, cotton, water, and fog, merges these elements with the human body, music, and space to create immersive experiences. The course explores Feldenkrais, somatic improvisation, as well as material exploration and choreographic design.

The workshop unfolds in three parts:

• Feldenkrais & Somatic Improvisation: The session begins with a Feldenkrais lesson to enhance body awareness and deepen the connection between internal sensations and external perceptions, followed by somatic improvisation.
• Material Exploration: Participants explore a variety of materials – such as textiles, cotton, water, and fog – examining their physical qualities and how they influence movement, with the material guiding the dancer.
• Choreographic Design: The interactions with the materials are reflected upon and transformed into choreographic designs, combining movement and material in innovative and creative ways.
