In this new workshop, Isabel continues her socio-choreographic research through a collective compositional process, exploring uncanny proximities via structured improvisation and sound.
Inspired by Hélène Landemore’s Open Democracy: Reinventing Popular Rule for the Twenty-First Century and Naomi Klein’s Doppelgänger, she creates a space to explore seemingly dichotomous positions in a cultural moment where the social and political landscapes dynamically shift, where the concepts of “right” and “left”, “conservative” and “liberal” seem to lose their anchoring and slide into new configurations.
The workshop is open to everyone with an interest and willingness to move ideas in space. The primary focus is on moving, doing, and creating together. It is supported by some excerpts from theoretical texts, which will be discussed in a structured manner. The participants of the Doppelgänger Workshop will co-create, dance, and make sound as a means of examining the conditions (shifting social and political landscapes) under which we encounter one another.
