Rosas Repertory
„Rain“ is a very tightly structured choregraphic piece that is based on 2 movement phrases, one "female" and one "male". During the workshop, we will use this material and explore all different kinds of possible variations derived from it, such as timing but also spatial modifications, duets, trios...The piece is also very much connected to the almost transe-like music of Steve Reich, „Music for Eighteen Musicians“,and we dig into the relation dance/music. With this piece, one of AnneTeresa Keersmaeker's main question of how to be an individual and still be part of a group is raised through the use of an identical vocabulary that everyone is encouraged to make his/hers.The aim is not to reconstruct the piece but more to get in touch with a way of treating dance material as an object, a tool, that can be manipulated indefinitely.
