Traditionally, music serves as an external support for dance. Angélique proposes a shift: through the voice, dancers generate and perform the music themselves – simultaneously and in direct connection with their movement. Vocal techniques and movement improvisation share a deep kinship, both emerging from the same instrument: the body. In this workshop, breath is explored as the primary source of both sound and motion, accessed through vocal exercises and movement improvisation. Participants develop movement that feels organic to their bodies, while also discovering and shaping sound that resonates authentically with their vocal instrument.

Movement leads to sound, and sound to movement. The voice is explored individually and collectively, with movement acting as both stimulus and support. Participants may use their voice to accompany their own movement, respond to others, or co-create polyphonic vocal improvisations.

At its core, this practice invites a holistic engagement with the performance body, encouraging dancers to deepen their movement vocabulary, expand their vocal range, and explore the interplay between both.

While the work invites dancers to engage with voice, it also welcomes those with a vocal background and limited movement experience.
