Daybee Dorzile aka. Daybee Dee makes a movement like a strong body stretch by stretching her upper body to the side, following the hand that is stretched out to the side (meaning her right hand, which is pointing over her head in the left direction).

The title and reference to a Melting-Pot suggests a dance workshop that focuses on different dance styles from the African diaspora, emphasising a dynamic and didactic atmosphere (‘jam’). These dance styles often carry a deep historical and cultural significance, they have their own characteristic movements, music, rhythms and cultural meanings that have evolved in different regions where the African diaspora has spread.

The dance sessions in this workshop offer participants the opportunity to explore the techniques and specific movements of the following Afro-diasporic dance styles: Afro-House, Dancehall, HipHop, Salsa, Caribbean Basics and a dash of R&B. Daybee has found a way to convey her multi-cultural influences – within the connection that these dance styles have in common - combined with her professional stage experience. This workshop is an opportunity to appreciate the diversity and richness of dance through the lens of African history and diaspora.
