Forsythe Repertory
We'll be working with William Forsythe's "Limb's Theorum" and "In the middle somewhat elevated". From "Limb's Theorum" we will explore variations and phrases integrating elements of contemporary dance such as weight and flow with movements, which have been generated through task-oriented systems and a ballet-based language out of it's normal syntax. The material from "In the middle somewhat elevated" was created for the Paris Opera Ballet and offers technical challenges and an opportunity to push the physical limits of ballet in Forsythe's style. These works are both danced to music by Thom Willems and in both studies there will be some improvisation work based on tasks and phrase material.
Elizabeth Corbett worked and improvised with William Forsythe and Ballet Frankfurt from 1980-1991 and has since taught ballet, improvisation and repertory at the renowned institution P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels. There she has been appointed dance development coordinator for the third year now, which makes her responsible for students’ progress and the communication between students and guest teachers.
