transformation through whirling

This workshop offers participants the opportunity to explore and challenge their physical and mental limits through various forms of whirling – whether alone, with a partner or in a group setting. By developing their bodily awareness and ability to conserve energy, participants can improve their movement skills and achieve their goals with greater efficiency and consciousness. While whirling is a significant aspect of this workshop, the primary objective of Dervish in Progress is to cultivate participants’ physical, emotional and mental awareness through whirling and the preceding exercises. Through this process, participants can gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their movements, and achieve new levels of innovation in their physical expression.

Spinning with a partner or in a group offers an opportunity to explore our daily reflexes and behaviours. When entering the dizzying state of the spinning world, one can experience an abstract adventure on physical, mental, and emotional levels, which might lead to tremendous realisations and discoveries about our true selves. Moreover, carrying or being carried is a fundamental action of our social reality and experiencing it physically can also have profound effects on one’s minds and emotions, lead to new stages in life, synchronise one’s rhythm with time and reorganise one’s being as individuals, offering a much greater mental, emotional and physical plasticity than we might think.
