Dance commune is an experiment in communing together. Dance commune is an experiment in asking questions: Can dance be a collective endeavor? What does it mean to make a dance that requires living together? What is community? What is support? What is safety? What is Utopia? What is possible? What is impossible? What does communism, communing, or sharing feel like in a dance or while making dance (can it last forever, in a memory, like love)? In an attempt to challenge the western notion of the singular body dancing, this workshop will explore dancing in relationship with other sentient beings, with organic matter, dreams, stories, ancestors, environments, conflicts, concepts or conundrums.
