Intertwined lines of energy and thought Contemporary Technique Cristina Caprioli gathers in her teaching the various lessons taught by the past decades of modern, post-modern and contemporary dance. Body awareness, flow and resistance, dance as decision, abandonment, image and time, all simultaneous, intertwined lines of energy and thought. In the intermediate class correct posture is understood as a continuously changing relation between spine and limbs, bones, muscles, organs and skin. The dancers will practice a wide range of complexity by accumulation and superimposition. Movement is here conceived not as transference in space but rather as bodily time. In the beginners’ class repetitive movement patterns are given in order to work on coordination, flexibility, rhythm and style, until both the body and the mind will have reached an organic understanding of it. With clear compositional methods, such as reverse, retrograde, de-construction and re-construction, the students are able to transform the material in space and time, to investigate its content and potential meaning.
