Ultima Vez Repertory to consider movement a 'theatrical act' rather than a 'technique' “We will work on the repertory of In Spite of Wishing and Wanting and Inasmuch as Life is Borrowed. Participants will confront Vandekeybus' energetic vocabulary through floorwork, involving floor techniques where the focus is on lending power to movement through release and momentum. Other phrases will include partner and contact work opening the exploration territory of how movement can be considered a 'theatrical act' rather than a 'technique'. All in all I will offer concepts in movement that take the focus away from the perception of the body and into the task, and raise the basic question of how to use simplicity for power in both movement and performance quality.“ After several years of working in Europe and three years with Ultima Vez performing, teaching company classes and conducting rehearsals Gavin Webber has started to focus on his own work upon returning to his home country Australia.
