The workshop starts with a focus on the mobility of the six extremities: neck, tailbone, hands and feet. These are often the first points of contact with the floor so a strong understanding of their movement is essential before progressing to exercises such as hamstring stretches, arch extensions, and folds. Afterwards, participants will train in the fundamentals of Catabatics – a term derived from the Greek prefix “κατα-” and the word “(acro-)batics”, essentially meaning lighter acrobatics. They will practise cartwheels, stepovers, rainbows, and around-the-clock wheels as foundational movement techniques.
