The floating {ribs} academy (somatic delirious lessons) represents a series of treatment and somatic lessons intricately woven around the concept of the body and anatomy. Just as ‘floating ribs’ (the lowest pair of ribs) provide vital protection to organs, they also serve as a pivot for enabling fluid movements and circulation, reflecting the dynamic nature of the workshop. This artistic approach, guided by Anne, a choreographer, art researcher and Feldenkrais practitioner, embodies a continuous exploration of diverse choreographic experiences and somatic practices. Drawing inspiration from Dr. Moshé Feldenkrais' imaginative use of language, anatomic fabulation and the power of touch, the workshop unfolds body-based practices, seamlessly bridging therapeutic and choreographic realms with the somatic and the poetic.
Beyond a mere collection of practices, methods and locations, the floating {ribs} academy is thoughtfully designed as a series of somatic delirious sessions and body-based work that venture into various fields of knowledge such as anatomy, psychoanalysis, feminist and queer theories, poetry and somatic practices. It cultivates an enriching space for choreographic growth through this multidisciplinary approach.
