This workshop is dedicated to teaching contemporary dance to people aged 50+ and the methods and considerations involved, while specifying the aims and needs of this population. It is aimed at both people 50+ and dance educators interested in teaching dance to an ageing population. In this Erasmus+ funded project, G;emma, Susanne, Ailish, Defne, Kerstin and maRia, who have been working on this topic for the last six months, want to widen the reach of dance teachers to the needed target groups and counteract ageism and discuss content, methodologies and critique regarding the proposed topic(s). This summer they have met at Artis Umbria / Italy to jointly research and teach daily evening classes to the local population, and are bringing now some of the results to ImPulsTanz.
This is a free workshop that aims for a balance in attendance between participants of 50+ of age and/or fellow dance teachers interested in the topic. After the last class, we host an informal talk about the project, open to all.
The KODA workshop is already fully booked.
Alternatively, you can attend the KODA Talk on 21 July 2024 at 18:00. More information
Participating organisations are Wiener Tanzwochen (AT), University of Limerick (IR) and Artis Umbria (IT).
