This workshop offers a deep dive into the immense world of sentience, in which ways of extending our corporeal modes of perception will be explored. Rooted in the somatic moving body, the journey will navigate through the vastness of our corporeal antennae, those detector / receptors embedded in our tissues, ears and eyes. Through improvisational practices of enfolding and unfolding solo as well as within a group we will enter into ephemeral portals of tracking and dreaming, capturing and bonding, releasing and emptying. In this cumulative fleshy umwelt, seeing becomes more tactile and sensory detection yields to deeper layers of embodied listening. The concept of rewilding is an integral part of these mutations, of letting go of what is culturally dormant and domesticated and discovering new materialities and growth gestures.
This method derives from a ten-year practice called the f/old as somatic / artistic approach. The workshop can be understood as a ferocious experiment in transformation, as a liminal entanglement in which curious participants are invited to try new ways of moving. No specific somatic training is needed to take part.
