Crafting and sharing your creative material on social media is a personal and nuanced decision, often sparking the debate of whether it amounts to giving away one’s talents for free. Jermaine’s perspective leans towards a more selective and intentional approach – that it's about curating what you share and delving into the realms of your creative mind. By doing so, one can discover a unique way of harmonizing dance with the camera.
In Dance for Camera, Jermaine shares his expertise on dancing for a screen. Participants will learn a short choreography, adapt it to their styles and develop a small performance for the camera in groups. Jermaine will offer tools and tasks to play with, while participants can choose if they find a different spot on the premises, to tape their short choreographies. Later, the short dance videos will be discussed within the larger group and feedback will be exchanged.
At the end of the workshop, there will be several short films that participants, Jermaine and the preset videographer alike will be able to share.
This workshop is for dancers, who want to capture the attention of the viewers, who are watching through the lens of the camera as well as for dancers who need to capture their own movements on camera and for those, who want to share their own movement or dance on social media. Dancers from different dance backgrounds are welcome however it is important that participants have experience with learning and adapting movement material rather quickly.
