“We cannot solve our environmental and social problems through the same patterns of thought that created them.” – Albert Einstein
The practice of ecosomatics aims to heal the separation between mind, body, and earth by encouraging direct sensory perception of one’s body both in the natural environment and as the natural environment. We are nature. Nature is in us. Questioning believe systems around our relationship to nature should be the first step to dissolving a hierarchical attitude towards earth. Rather than thinking about saving the earth, we could think about experiencing us a part of the earth. Therefore, an awareness process is needed through which we humans not only rationally understand the destruction of life on this planet but also learn to (re)sense ourselves as part of this planet again. This sensing is most effectively shaped through accessing movement, dance, breathwork and somatic perception aimed towards radically truthful, resource-oriented and relationship-oriented expression. We can tune into a larger ecosystem by tuning into ours.
