The Espionage Kit Secret scores, escape hatches, identities „This is a way to formally explore, explode, abuse, farm the subtext of dancing. In a rehearsal process, and in performance, do you sometimes, or have you ever: consciously manipulated the situation in order to create your role within the piece? do you: get confused about what's "true“? do you: hatch plots? do you: get distracted? do you: steal identitities? do you: make mistakes that you love? do you: mislead? do you: withhold information? do you: spy on other's thought processes? do you: develop personal scenarios irrespective of their application to the current project? And then sometimes try to convince others of their relevance? do you: feel pretty sure people are seeing something other than the real you? I will provide tasks and structures to emphasize the possibilities, relevance or irrelevance, of missunderstanding, coincidence and well laid plans. We will work with improvisational structures, timers, bits of paper, mirrors and various other low tech self-surveillance tools. Each participant will be given and then eventually develop his/her own secret agenda, or score, which will be, to varying degrees, coordinated with a group structure, also made up of individuated, secret, scores. The scores will consist of tasks, actions, qualitative states, time relationships, vocabularies, characterizations. The emphasis will be to practice precision and deliberation in coordination with a group while maintaining personal independence and creative authority over your experience as a dancer and improvisational composer.“ Mark Lorimer, since years in Brussels and mainly with Rosas as well as Cie ZOO/Thomas Hauert, continues his research on the „tyranny of unison“.
