Full Presence Ahead

Anatomical journeys, danced research

Using biodynamic osteopathy, cranio-sacral therapy and contemporary dance, we gather information about the anatomy of our brain structures and their connections to the whole body and learn about imprints from our embryological time. We playfully explore choreographic sketches perceived inside our bodies and transfer them to the outside and into the room.

“From my research and many years of experience as a choreographer, lecturer and performer in the field of contemporary dance, as well as from the search for subtle traces in the body in the context of biodynamic cranio-sacral bodywork, the desire arose to connect both in a playful but still sound way.

On the one hand, we will make anatomical journeys from the embryonic phase to the present in the form of experiential anatomy, on the other hand we will sense movement sequences that we have already perceived before, or develop sequences that may possibly go new ways through the special approach of this research.

OK! Let’s Dance! 60+

Art is obliged to raise the voice!

We are attempting the following experiment: for a while we forget about our age, let ourselves be carried away by the group’s dynamics, enjoy some moments of retreat and silence and physically explore topics that feel relevant to us. In doing so, we respect our limits so as not to hurt ourselves. After a warm-up together we will work on a different task every day in the frame of this laboratory.

Please bring comfortable clothes, a water bottle and something to write.

ARTISTBIO: Nicole Berndt-Caccivio

Born in Switzerland in 1963, Nicole Berndt-Caccivio, Nica, studied classical and modern dance in Europe and at the Cunningham Studios in NYC. As a dancer, she was particularly inspired by the collaboration with the Tanzfabrik Berlin and the Tanztheater Zürich. In 1992 with her own company Ljada in Biel-Bienne (CH), she won together with Company Ricochet/UK the first prize in the festival of the Suzanne Dellal Center Tel Aviv, which opened the doors for her international career in Europe and the US. She has been guest lecturer for contemporary dance at a.o. the MUK Vienna, ZUKT Frankfurt a.M., ImPulsTanz, Tanzquartier Vienna, Seneca and Etage and Smash projects in Berlin and lead to artistic, soloistic and performative collaborations with a.o. Jürg Lietha (Bern), David Bloom (Berlin), Collective F (Bern), Nicolas Caccivio (Vienna, Biel-Bienne), Annelie André (Salzburg, Berlin), to only name a few.

Since 2009 she is the artistic director of the project Age Company Vienna, in which pieces are developed with elderly people, and teaches dance pedagogy for people of 55 years and older at the MUK in Vienna as well as in other projects for further education in Austria. Golden and Silver Age workshops are another vehicle for Nicole to get in touch with elders on a physical and artistic level.

Since 2004 she has been moving as a biodynamic craniosacral therapist in a new field of inner and outer movements and, in addition to her encounters in practice with patients in Biel and Berlin, she incorporates this experience in her artistic / pedagogical research journeys and will, among other things, offer workshops for therapists in connection with movement and dance at the CranioSuisse specialist congress and at the Kientalerhof in 2021. She will also be teaching Experiential Anatomy / Bodywork for Performers for the first time in April 2021 at the contemporary training institution LA FAKTORIA in Pamplona.

Nicole lives in Berlin and Biel, is married, has no children and moves as an artist in the LGBTIQ+ scene and finds that growing older should be seen as inspiring and not deficit-oriented. Based on this, she founded her own platform, Caccivio en Compagnie in Biel-Bienne in 2019. First performances took place on 1.10.2020, the International Day of Older People in the form of Site Specifics in public space (supported by the Cultural Culture Bienne Department of the City of Biel). The solo work will be further developed in 2021/22/23 with other artists* 55+.

For Kulturhauptstadt Salzkammergut 2024 she will run the department for movement with seniors as part of the artistic team.

“It is the duty of art to raise its voice!”
