Dance and visual cultures

In this workshop we explore through practice and lecture different territories of dance and how dance is represented within different media, mostly linked to new technologies. We experiment and study how dance is closely collaborating with what we can call "visual cultures" and build an ephemeral visible community and a collection of material including films, photos, texts, which we will communicate via social media. We will communicate simultaneously as we will research and create.
This workshop is addressed to people interested in media, in filming and building images.
Participants must come with their tools (phones, camera etc).

ARTISTBIO: Dimitri Chamblas

Captivated by dance, Dimitri Chamblas joined The Paris Opera’s celebrated dance school at age ten.
Chamblas performed with various choreographers and companies such as Boris Charmatz , Emmanuelle Huynhn, Mathilde Monnier and many more, touring all around the world in the most famous theatres, festivals, museums.
In 1996, Dimitri Chamblas created with Mathilde Monnier (actual director of the Centre National de la Danse) the "research and writing residence”, an occasion for artists to create personal creative space outside of the traditional production process.
Chamblas is co-founder of EDNA with choreographer Boris Charmatz. Together they have organized events, performances and exhibitions. Their duet "A bras le Corps" has been performed on every continent in world-renowned theatres and festivals.
