Doris Uhlich

more than naked – 10th anniversary

It requires a lot of skill to go all out yet remain relaxed, casual and ironic. Even more so when, as in this piece, the bodies of the dancers do entirely without the protection of clothes. more than naked was first performed ten years ago, and even then it was said that the large group piece “proposes a new, more relaxed way of thinking about nakedness in dance and in society”. Against the background of the obsession with beauty – boosted, among others, by countless influencers – the present proposal with an extended, diverse ensemble has become even more topical. Doris Uhlich puts an end to the worship of six-packs and thigh gaps. Instead, the flesh becomes a source of joy as it is. Demonstrating that sensitivity and radicalism, political performance and aesthetic accessibility, weight and dance are not mutually exclusive.
