The virtuoso dance tornado of the Canadian company La La La Human Steps, with her characteristic white-blonde mane of hair, was one of the best-known dancers in the world. Most notably after performing with David Bowie in the late 1980s. Louise Lecavalier only began choreographing works of her own many years after leaving La La La Human Steps: powerful, delicate and sensitive pieces like, most recently, the duet Battleground. Inspired by Italo Calvino’s incorporeal Nonexistent Knight, the stunning dancer (together with Robert Abubo and a musician on stage) now takes the shapes of an ironic shell and an absurd delusion.
