Amanda Apetrea & Halla Ólafsdóttir

Beauty and the Beast

[8:tension]2013 © Apetrea & Ólafsdóttir

This rather intense show is a celebration of freedom, love, lust, dance and rock ’n’ roll. The two young choreographers Amanda Apetrea and Halla Ólafsdóttir transform the dance stage into a volcano of laser lights, theatrical mist, rock sounds and cheeky lyrics. With wild make-up and changing outfits they act like they were the granddaughters of Alice Cooper and KISS. “We want to provoke confusion, curiosity and questions”, the two “Godmothers of Dance”, as they call themselves ironically, remark. Amanda Apetrea already performed in Vienna with the Swedish Collective ÖFA, which she co-founded in 2004. Halla Ólafsdóttir, who is originally from Iceland, is currently on tour with the pop duo The Knife. Both Apetrea and Ólafsdóttir live in Sweden.
