Never Live Twice

[8:tension]2013 © Zeina Hanna / Tanztage Berlin

Charles Bukowski’s husky, sonorous voice talks about art and love. A comfortable lounge, lovely music and a video that is projected onto creased paper on a wall. In this video, a young woman dances: at, on and under a piano and with an armchair. Choreographer Zeina Hanna pushes the “Pause” button time and again, then she draws outlines on a rustling surface with a white and a black pen, colours areas and creates a picture in the stop-and-go process of this performance. “Never live twice” is full of surprising associations and details, and develops its own, contemporary poetics in the interaction between movement and physical presence combined with text, images, and sound.
