Burgtheater & ImPulsTanz present: "False Colored Eyes"

False Colored Eyes follows the insisting gaze of the „Screen Tests“, a series of film portraits created in 1964-66: numerous celebrities and famous personalities posed for short movie close-ups of themselves. Behind the camera stood Andy Warhol and thus created movie portraits of very intimate moments.
The radical private, whose publishing meant a subversive act back in Andy Warhol’s times, has long ago become omnipresent ad nauseam. The quest of the perfect ego in self created images, the unceasing audiovisual exploration of the self is the final utopia of a „fun-spectacle-society“, who has painfully run out of ideas.

With False Colored Eyes the renowned Austrian Choreographer Chris Haring and his company Liquid Loft present the world premiere of part II of their series Imploding Portraits Inevitable, a performance-series in which today's urge of medially conducted self-optimization encounters its very-own history-avatar.

Their idiosyncratic visual and design vocabulary, unmistakable acoustic stage sets and distinctive choreographies have brought Liquid Loft international recognition and numerous awards, such as the Golden Lion for Best Performance at the Biennale di Venezia 2007.

Chris Haring always keeps a finger on the pulse, his view on society and its behaviour has the focus of an x-ray and he shows, what he sees. Without judgement, but with the means (and the collaborators) who he knows perfectly well to use. (Ditta Rudle,
