From the underbelly back alley scene of American G.I’s Base camps live music’s influence on the Thai disco during the late 60’s.
Piano Supannada, the sibling singer of The Sis from Thailand, brings back to life that Thai Disco’s Legacy of Siam with The Chaiyo Band.
Born and raised in a musical family from the south of Thailand, Piano Supnnada, the middle child of the three sisters with the first born Bass Pattaranin and the youngest Zoe Rosarin, made up the renown sibling band The Sis. They performed together from a young age until they were officially signed with a record label during the early 2000s. The singing trio wrote and performed together until they eventually moved to different countries to pursue other dreams.
Piano re-settled herself in Vienna where she met drummer Philipp Mayer, bassist Helmut Schartlmüller. Together, The Chaiyo Band was founded and has taken the stage to bring to life Thai Disco sounds.
‘It’s been amazing to see how the crowd just get up and dance to the essence of souls and rhythm of Thailand, despite the songs being in Thai and talking about the daily life of country side and working class life – about papaya salad, getting dressed up to work in the rice field and go out dancing to disco at the temple fair’
