SUN PEOPLE

Sun People is an adventurous maverick in quick rhythms, playfully fearless in productions and selections while moulded by a core passion for the culture and the movements within.

Simon Hafner’s two decade long stint in dance music has yielded a glorious treasure trail of club-minded innovation. Initially emerging as part of the Winterstrand trio (alongside his two brothers) in the late nineties, he then proceeded solo: first, as the dubwise broken beat leanings of Simon/off in the mid-2000s, and now Sun People. Having settled into his current alias for over a decade now, his output since its inception has been widely regarded for its inimitable takes on jungle and footwork, fascinatingly hybridised with a wide variety of styles like juke, techno, electro, minimal and dub. His deft beat programming, boundless energy and remarkable productive spontaneity has sparked a celebrated discography, with noted releases on dBridge’s Exit Records, Rua Sound, Defrostatica, Outlines sub-label Guides plus a forthcoming EP for Steffi’s Candy Mountain imprint and much more.

Operating from his home of Graz in Austria, he contributes actively and regularly to the city and the music community within it. From the co-running of labels, organising events, mentoring new artists and more he stresses the oft-forgotten importance of connectedness to an electronic music locale, an integral spoke to Simon’s musical existence. It’s a role with a subliminal goal to help uplift and grow his scene with an international perspective.

Sun People’s DJing expands further a musical vision uncompromised in scope and ambition. A noted radio residency on London’s formative Sub FM and a string of appearances at clubs like Wuppertal’s Open Ground, Bristol’s Lost Horizons and London’s E1 and festivals such as Dimensions, Fusion and Elevate prove evident his dancefloor mettle from the booth.

POLYXENE (Stegi Radio)

POLYXENE is a dynamic DJ, based in Vienna but hailing from Athens.
With a sound engineering background, an insatiable digging habit and a sublime dancing energy, she knows how to raise eyebrows and to ignite the dancefloors. POLYXENE is early influenced by Drum n' Bass/Jungle and later on Detroit Techno which deeply shaped her electronic music path.

It is well known that POLYXENE likes to bring this drama and intensity in her performances. With a robust and heavily eclectic record collection her dj sets oscillate from Breakbeat, Electro, Leftifield Techno, heavy Bass, mindbending IDM to Ghetto and House. But she also loves to go straight forward with her Big Room Techno and Ravey Breakcore weapons.

She shared the DJ booth with Dj Bone, OBJEKT, Ellen Alien, Marcel Dettmann, Vladimir Ivkovic, Nite Fleit, DJ Assault, Madam X, Deena Abdelwahed, Call Super, Teki Latex, Nene H..
Some of the festivals she has performed are Elevate Festival (Graz), Hyppereality (Vienna), Ars Electronica (Linz), The Lighthouse Festival (Porec, Croatia). Last, she is proud to have her monthly residency on Stegi Radio (former Movement Radio) of Athens where she explores variable music journeys along with her favourite guests.
